Sales Tax Figures Up In Permian Basin For April

MIDLAND -- The latest sales tax revenue figures are in for the Basin, and they show that the economy is on the rebound in Midland and Odessa.

    According to the State Comptroller's Office, Midland got $1.9 million in its April check, which is based on February sales. That figure is more than a 14 percent increase from the same time last year. The year-to-date total is also up by more than 25 percent from the same point in 2010.

    Odessa's numbers are also up from this time last year. Odessa got more than $1.5 million in its April check. That figure is a 20 percent increase from this time last year. Odessa's year-to-date total is also up from the previous fiscal year by more than 24 percent.
