ALPINE -- The Texas Forest Service says that a large fire near Alpine has been completely contained.

The Forest Service had said that the Roper Fire was threatening 150 homes and 50 other structures earlier on Wednesday. T.F.S. bulldozers and engines were on scene -- along with fire crews -- and no evacuations were ordered.

The Forest Service now says the blaze is 100 percent contained. The fire claimed 41,000 acres northeast of Alpine, but no structures were lost.
