MIDLAND COUNTY -- Several small fires broke out across the Permian Basin Thursday. Those blazes were fueled by fierce winds.

One fire broke out near Midland International Airport around 1 PM Thursday. Fire crews rushed to the blaze, as it burned a long line of brush.

For people with businesses along Industrial, the speed with which the flames moved was cause for serious concern.

"By the time we saw it and ran back to get something to put it out, in a matter of seconds, it had spread probably 50 yards across the way," one employee told Big 2.

No buildings were damaged, and crews got the fire under control quickly.
