MIDLAND -- An Odessa man has pleaded guilty to stealing copper wire from a drilling rig.

Sean Michael Geer pleaded guilty to a federal charge of destruction of an energy facility. Prosecutors say that Geer, 38, and Leslie Gayle Hurst, 38, broke into the rig co yard in Odessa and stole copper wire.

The pair planned to sell it for money. Instead, they were arrested the next day in a Budget Inn hotel room in Odessa.

Hurst pleaded guilty to similar charges on April 13th. Both Geer and Hurst face 20 years in federal prison.
