West Odessa VFD Gets Needed Donation

ODESSA -- As wildfires continue to threaten West Texas, a local Volunteer Fire Department is getting some much needed help.
The West Odessa Fire Department accepted a donation Monday at the Ector County Commissioner's Court. Debbie Clay with Amigos Bonding was there to present the department with $1,000. Jimmy Ellis of the West Odessa Fire Department says that money couldn't have come at a better time.
"I've got two trucks that are down," said Ellis. "With the wind not showing any sign of letting up on us and everything so dry, we're just in a bind."
Ellis says that the department paid more than $1,000 to fuel their trucks last month. With the cost of gas continuing to rise, he expects that number will be a lot higher this month.
