Remembrance Rally for Murdered Woman

ANDREWS -- Glory Dawn Olivas was a loving mother of three children whose lives have been changed as the result of domestic violence.
Now, Glory's family is spreading the word on violence, hoping to spare other families a similar tragedy.
"She was a very outgoing person. She was the type of person that she didn't really have enemies. I mean, she would talk to anybody."
That's how Glory's aunt, Kristie Saenz, describes the 22-year-old who lost her life two years ago.
At the time, police stated that Olivas' ex-boyfriend, Jacob Trevino, was the one who killed her. But the case stalled at the District Attorney's office, and no charges were ever filed against Trevino. Glory's family hopes that by taking a stand against domestic violence, the District Attorney will finally be able to move forward.
"We need to stand out against violence and not allow for all the things going on to happen," said Saenz.
Kristie hopes to have 100-150 people show up at the rally for Glory -- sending a clear message.
"I wanted to see her as the 'poster child of violence' and that's what my message is" said Saenz. "To make her that voice, not just against domestic violence, but also violence in general."
The rally is Wednesday at 6PM on the Andrews County Courthouse lawn. There will be t-shirts, rings and bracelets for sale.
The money will go towards the Glory's Hope organization, which hopes to open woman's shelters in towns who don't have one and also provide counseling.
