Yesterday's storms dropped some greatly needed rain across part of the Permian Basin. Gusty west winds return today pushing any chance for more rain into Central Texas, leaving us with elevated fire danger. Temperatures will top out in the upper 90's this afternoon under sunny skies. The moisture we need for rain will stay east of us all week as a front stays positions to our north, this will keep winds strong and fire danger high. Temps also staying hot as highs till Wednesday will stay in the middle to upper 90's before our next front approaches. Late Wednesday/Early Thursday, winds will shift to the north bring a brief cool-down to the Basin, Thursday's temps will top out in the 80's. The heat returns quickly though, by Friday expect middle 90's and triple digits as soon as this weekend!
