ODESSA -- It was one of the biggest stories of last year in the Permian Basin: the Guerdwich Montimere Scandal. Now, the accused Permian High impostor is breaking his silence.

Montimere recently did his first interview in 13 months. That interview will appear in the July edition of GQ Magazine.

In the article, Montimere says that he can't wait for the ordeal to be over, adding, "No matter how it turns out, I know who I am. I know my life." The article also talks about how Odessa embraced Montimere "like a gift from god,"

Montimere also asks why people forget the good things about him. He says, "They just think I'm some monster."

Montimere has been behind bars in Odessa for more than a year.  He's charged with sexual assault, fraud and tampering with government records.

Monitmere's trial is set for August 2nd.
