ODESSA -- A railroad crossing that has generated a lot of controversy is now being destroyed.

Ector County Commissioners voted to shut down the Cargo Road crossing, after they got a request from Union Pacific railroad to shut it down. The vote came after numerous severe accidents at the crossing.

Now, Union Pacific is dismantling the crossing gates at that intersection, as they work to shut it down completely.

Jaguars Gold Club -- which runs their business near that intersection -- has sued Union Pacific and Ector County. They're waiting for a hearing date for that lawsuit.

In the lawsuit, Jaguars says the county and the railroad colluded to close the Cargo Road crossing. Jaguar's adds that the closure has seriously affected their business.
