The Hackers replaced the Muppets web page content with sexually explicit videos, which was taken offline Sunday afternoon.
The show posted a message on YouTube informing users the page was shut down for repeated or severe violations to community guidelines.
PBS, Sesame Street producers nor Google, who owns YouTube, had an immediate response to the hacking.
Later claiming two other YouTube users were responsible for the explicit content. One of whom denied the allegation, posting on his account, "I did not hack Sesame Street. I am an honest YouTuber."
