MIDLAND -- The city is getting closer to hiring a new Downtown Development Director.

Assistant City Manger Jim Nichols told Big 2 News exclusively on Tuesday, the Downtown Development Consortium is advertising and actively recruiting for the position.

Nichols was scheduled to update the City Council on the search Tuesday, but the briefing had to be rescheduled because of time constraints.

However, Nichols say the work to enhance and revitalize Midland's downtown is not slowing down.

Nichols tells us, he's scheduled to present a briefing on the downtown development at the next city council meeting in two weeks.
