MIDLAND -- Power has been restored to a Midland neighborhood, after a utility pole fire left several residents electricity Thursday.

The pole fire happened in the 700 block of Butternut in Midland around noon Thursday. An explosion caught the pole on fire.

"I didn't know what was going on, but my niece came out and said she heard a big ol' boom," witness Juan Rangel told Big 2. "And she went outside to see what was going on, and she saw the pole was on fire. And when she saw the pole on fire, she went to the neighbors to go call."

The fire knocked out power to a whole block of English Drive as well. Crews worked all afternoon Thursday to restore power.

There are no reports of any injuries.
