Down on your luck? It could all turn around later this week.
Mystic-minded people around the globe are calling 11-11-11 one of the most important dates in the modern calendar.
Look for lottery sales, weddings and cesarean section births to spike, as the world gets a chance to celebrate a set of numbers that won't roll around again for another 100 years.
Businesses are offering deals and discounts on Friday to celebrate the serendipity.
"We're going to be watching the world clock at our restaurants that morning and at 11:11 and 11 seconds on 11-11-11 we're going to be pouring champagne for our customers to toast this once in a lifetime calendar event," says Larry Klinghoffer of Coal Vines Pizza Pasta Wine Bistro. "We open our doors at 11am. The 11th customer gets a free meal and we're cutting the price of our regular sized pizza to $11 for the whole day."
In numerology, 11 is considered a "Master Number" and those who have 11 in their birth date are said to be endowed with special gifts of leadership and inspiration, with an overwhelming desire to achieve something extraordinary.
Surveys have shown that the number 11 is one of the top six picked numbers in the lottery.
The number 11 has always been seen as lucky in Las Vegas. In the game of craps, rolling an 11 is as good as rolling a seven when the game begins. And in blackjack, if a player draws an 11 it's very lucky hand, because the chances of getting 21 with the next card are greatly improved.
The Elvis Wedding Chapel in Vegas is offering its top of the line "Pink Caddy Wedding Package" for $1,111.11 on 11-11-11. But if you haven't made a reservation yet, you're out of luck. They're booked solid. They have 5 chapels that will be doing Elvis weddings every half hour round the clock.
It's hard to beat the 11-11-11 deal at the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills. Rooms cost $11 the night of Nov. 11 for guests who stay two or three nights.
"I remember a few years ago on 7-7-7 the churches were all reserved with weddings and everyone was getting engaged because it was such a lucky date," says Klinghoffer. "Many people have that same kind of lucky feeling about the number 11. We expect all of our restaurants to be packed on Friday for our celebrations. After all, a century is a long time to wait for those numbers to come up again."
