Exxon Mobil Cleans up Oil Spill in Yellowstone River

By: Stephanie Castillo
Updated: November 7, 2011
MONTANA -- Exxon Mobil is paying more than one million dollars to cleanup an oil spill.

Back in July the Exxon Mobil's Silver Tip pipeline broke spilling 42,000 gallons of crude oil into the Yellowstone River.

Over the weekend the cleanup process began with removal the broken pipeline. The cleanup operation includes  removing the pipe in segments and clearing debris near the pipeline.

Exxon Mobil has taken responsibility for the spill and is paying for the cleanup. An investigation on why the pipe burst is still on-going.
