Doyle Bramhall Dies at Age 62

ALPINE -- A well known musician with ties to West Texas has passed away.

Doyle Bramhall Sr. played drums for both Jimmie Vaughn and later Stevie Ray Vaughn. Doyle passed away at his home in Alpine from complications with pneumonia.

In his early years, Doyle opened for such famous likes Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.

In the 1970s he created The Nightcrawlers with both Vaughns. Later he helped Stevie Ray Vaughn beat his addictions and get sober. Bramhall released three solo albums starting in 1994.

Doyle Bramhall was 62 years old.
