Nothing can replace the skill of a highly trained surgeon, but a very special robot called the DaVinci Surgical System can now help surgeons do their job even better.

Surgeons at Midland Memorial Hospital use the DaVinci robot to perform minimally invasive procedures, many of which could once be performed only using major open surgery. These include urological and OB/GYN procedures such as prostate removal and hysterectomies.  Physicians say that more and more studies are coming out showing that certain procedures can be done more effectively with the robot.

In addition to hysterectomies and fibroid removal, uterine prolapse repairs and cancer surgeries are also now possible using the DaVinci. Urologists at Midland Memorial Hospital use the DaVinci to perform procedures including prostate removal, partial and complete bladder removal, ureteral repairs and treatment of kidney cancer.

Midland Memorial also offers the areas only general surgeon formally trained in robotics. This allows even more procedures to be offered using the robot including treatment and removal of colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, treatment of acid reflux disease and hernia repairs.
