Cigarettes To Blame For Thanksgiving Day Apartment Fire

ODESSA -- Cigarettes are to blame for an apartment fire that left five families homeless on Thanksgiving day.

The fire happened Thursday morning around 3 AM at the Las Placitas Apartments at University and Dawn in Odessa. The Odessa Fire Departments tells Big 2 the fire that started in a bedroom was lit by cigarettes. Two units were completely destroyed and others suffered major smoke damage.

The Red Cross is assisting the five different families affected.
