New Product to Help People Stay Healthy While Flying

Most people complained about long waits in security lines over the biggest travel weekend of the year. But there was another complaint people talked about not liking.

While spending hours in a plane the air in the cabin can feel stale and passengers breathing a sigh a of relief once the doors are open and fresh air comes in.

In 2004 the Journal of Environmental Health Research said twenty percent of people questioned after a two and a half hour flight passengers came down with a cold within a week.

The study blamed part of the problem on reduced resistance to infection from the dry cabin air and travel fatigue. Holiday travel may bring some headaches but a new company from San Francisco says they have a product that may make flying a little healthier.

The product is called Skycap, and its like lotion for your nose --the theory if your nose is hydrated it is better at fighting off germs.

The product launched in September at an air nose and throat conference at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Travel experts say nasal sprays, drinking water and moisturizing are all good tips to keep travels healthy during their trips.

The company says the product is not just for flying but also places like Kuwait and Afghanistan where low humidity is a constant problem.
