ODESSA -- A 16-year-old boy is being charged with criminally negligent homicide, for allegedly causing a fatal moped accident.

The incident happened on November 15th. Police say Jon Haynie was driving a Vespa down Candy Lane when he tried to turn onto Kenwood Drive.

At that point, a pick-up that was reportedly driven by the teenager ran a stop sign and crashed into the moped, before slamming into a parked car.

Haynie, 66, was thrown off the moped in the incident. He died on the scene.

Now, people that live in the area say they want to see the city doing more to try and slow speeders down.

"Go around and give us more stop signs and put them signs that say 'Cross Traffic Doesn't Stop," resident R. Eric Evenson told Big 2. "There's several places that don't have stop signs."

The teenager will not be charged as an adult, and no warrants have been issued for his arrest. His name has not been released.

The case has been turned over to the Juvenile Court System.
