ODESSA -- The Christmas season starts with the City of Odessa Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, December 1 at McKinney Park, 625 West Pool Road.

Entertainment starts at 5:30 pm and the ceremony begins at 6:30 pm.

Odessa Mayor Larry Melton will flip the switch to light up the City's 50 foot tall Christmas tree, school choirs will fill the air with sounds of Christmas carols and the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang will be on hand to serve up hot chocolate. There will even be a special visit from Santa Claus.

Carpooling is encouraged because parking is limited.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony also serves as the opening of Starbright Village, a winter wonderland of lighted Christmas scenes. Patrons can walk or drive through an amazing array of twinkling lights and sparkling displays. Dozens of displays create an amazing and awe-inspiring scene, unparalleled in West Texas.

Children can visit personally with Santa every Friday and Saturday until Christmas Eve between 6:30 and 8:30 pm.

Starbright Village is open 6 to 11 pm nightly between December 1 and New Year's Day at McKinney Park.

Everyone is encouraged to come out and join the Christmas fun. All events are free to the public so bring the entire family!
