Gender Does Not Indicate Whether or Not You Are Better at Math

By: Stephanie Castillo
Updated: December 13, 2011
A new study found social factors, not genetics, are the reason for the so-called math gender gap.

It's long been reported that males perform better at math compared to females.

But new research found, the difference is cultural, and the gender gap doesn't even exist in some countries.

In the U-S, researchers say the gap has narrowed.  The study found females perform better at math in places where there is more gender equality.

The American Mathematical Society published the study.
