Blown Tires Prevent A Southwest Flight From Taking Off

SACRAMENTO, CA -- Some truly terrifying moments for holiday travelers on a Southwest Airlines flight that was heading from Sacramento to Seattle Tuesday night.

The pilot was  forced to very quickly abort take-off as emergency crews scrambled to hose down the plane, after the plane blew two tires before take-off.

It started as a routine takeoff from the Sacramento Airport, 132 passengers including two small children. As the pilot raced down the runway, two tires apparently blew out on the Boeing 737.

Initial reports were that the tires caught fire, but the airline says that did not happen, but the pilots did call in emergency crews to hose down the hot tires, just in case.

All the passengers were forced to get off the plane on the runway, but were able to do so on portable stairs, not the emergency slides. No injuries were reported.
