Another Infant Infected By Cronobacter Bacteria

WASHINGTON DC  --  Another infant has tested positive for the infection which resulted in the death of one baby and sickened another.

A baby in Oklahoma tested positive for the bacteria Cronobacter. This bacteria has at times been linked to a rare illness in newborns and has been discovered in milk-based powdered baby formula.

The Oklahoma Department of Health says the baby did not consume Mead Johnson Nutrition Company's Enfamil formula.

Enfamil had been given to a newborn in Missouri who later died and was also given to a baby still recovering in Illinois.

Both of those cases have been confirmed to have been infected with Cronobacter.

So far, a federal investigation has failed to establish a link between formula and the infections.

In addition, Mead Johnson has said its tests have found Enfamil to be safe.
