TAOS, NM -- A New Mexico restaurant is evacuated after a sheriff's deputy crashes into its patio.

On Christmas Eve in Taos, police say Taos County Sheriff Deputy, Nicholas Lamendola, was on his way to a call in Questa when another driver hit his car causing the deputy to spin, hit a snow bank and then flip over.

The car crashed into the patio of Orlando's Cafe and began leaking fuel. Since the restaurant's propane tanks were nearby; guests at the cafe had to evacuate.

New Mexico State Police are now investigating the crash.
