NORTH CAROLINA -- Authorities in Hoke County, North Carolina are investigating animal abuse allegations at a local Butterball plant.

The animal rights group Mercy For Animals first reported the allegations after one of its undercover workers shot video showing plant employees kicking turkeys.

Sheriff's deputies raided the facility this week looking for evidence.

Butterball has issued a statement condemning any mistreatment of its animals.
