BEEBE, ARKANSAS -- Dozens of blackbirds died Saturday night in Beebe, Arkansas, apparently after being startled by New Year's Eve fireworks.

In 2010, about 5,000 blackbirds were found dead in the same area. According to the reports from the state's Game and Fish Commission, those birds died of blunt force trauma after they became disoriented and flew into stationary objects.

Tests will be conducted to determine the cause of this year's deaths. Many birds migrate through the city; it's home to a large roost.
