ROME, ITALY -- Pope Benedict the 16th is joining the media savvy generation this Lenten season.

He'll be posting one Papal tweet a day during the 40 days of Lent. Monseigneur Paul Tighe notes that many of the key Gospel ideas are readily rendered in 140 characters.

The Pope's messages will be tweeted in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and soon in Portuguese via Pope2YouVatican.

The Vatican hopes the tweets will be retweeted and have an impact in bringing someone back to the fold.
