Markey Calls For Release Of Strategic Oil Reserve

WASHINGTON, DC -- Massachusetts Congressman Ed Markey is urging President Obama to release oil from the nation's strategic reserve to help fight high prices.
In a letter to the President, Markey says releasing oil from the reserve has historically helped push down oil prices.
The congressman adds that releasing the oil would send a message to Iran that the U.S. will quote, "aggressively" use the country's oil reserves.
The shutdown of a Washington state oil refinery is expected to cause a gas price spike across the country by this weekend.
