BIG SPRING -- Investigators are trying to identify human remains that were found in Big Spring field on Tuesday.

Workers found the remains in a pasture in the 2500 block of Apron Drive -- near the McMahon-Wrinkle airport and the Big Spring Desert Tanks -- around 2:30 PM Tuesday.

Big Spring Police say the remains are human remains. Investigators believe the remains were in the field for a long period of time before their discovery.

The remains have decomposed to a point where investigators could not even identify the deceased Tuesday. Investigators were also unsure of the gender of the body as of Tuesday evening, but they do believe it's a child's body.

Big Spring Police secured the crime scene Tuesday afternoon.

An F.B.I. Evidence Recovery Team from Dallas will be on hand in Big Spring Wednesday morning to process the scene and collect evidence.
