Matthew Farrell joined the Big 2 News team in March of 2012 as the weekend weather anchor and weekday reporter. He is excited to begin his career in his home state of Texas.
Growing up in the DFW metroplex, Matthew always had a love for math and physics, and even graduated high school with an endorsement in engineering. This led him to the University of Texas at Arlington where he discovered engineering was not his calling. This granted him the opportunity to pursue his other passion in life: news and television broadcasting. He followed this calling to The University of North Texas where he graduated with a degree in Communication Studies.
While at UNT, Matthew held every imaginable position with the campus news station NTTV. From Producer to Director, Sports to Reporting, his true calling was found between the studio camera and the green screen. He found a perfect way to combine his two loves in life: broadcasting with math and science. After a weather internship at WFAA Channel 8 in Dallas, his path was set and he was off to study Meteorology north of the Red River at the University of Oklahoma.
Matthew returned to Texas in early 2012 and found a new home in the West Texas desert. He is currently finishing his meteorology studies through Mississippi State University.
