Dunes Sagebrush Lizard Won't Be Listed As Endangered

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Fish and Wildlife has decided not to list the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard on the Endangered Species List.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife officially announce the official decision during a 12:30 PM conference call Wednesday.

Texas Comptroller Susan Combs sent out a press release applauding the decision even before it was announced Wednesday.

The decision likely ends a significant threat to the oil and gas industry in the Permian Basin. If the lizard had been listed on the Endangered Species List, it would have halted a good deal of drilling in the Permian Basin
