TEXAS -- Polls were open today in the Republican primary runoffs for two of three seats on the Texas Railroad Commission, a state agency that regulates the oil and gas industry among other things.

Republican Barry Smitherman, current chair of the commission, is running off against Greg Parker in the Texas Railroad Commission Place 2 race. Smitherman is projected to win the unexpired term.

Vying for the other Republican nomination for the vacant seat on the commission is State Representative Warren Chisum and Christi Craddick, former Texas House Speaker Tom Craddick's daughter. Craddick has been called to win the Texas Railroad Commission Place 1 race by numerous media outlets.
