Big 2 News and Midland Teachers Credit Union salute this weeks Hometown Hero.

Deputy Johnny Rodriguez has been in law enforcement for 16 years, first with the Midland County Juvenile Center and afterwards for the Midland County Sheriff's Office.

During the years he's handled thousands of calls, but on August 8th he saved a man's life.

Deputy Rodriguez was called to a house fire on Alta and Pecos and found a paralyzed man trying to crawl to safety.

Rodriguez, worried the gas meter could blow, rushed and pulled the man out of danger. Because of his help, that man only suffered first degree burns to his legs and and arm. That's why his daughter Sunney says Deputy Rodriguez is a true hometown hero.
