The tallest building in the world right now is the the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
It has 160-floors and stands at more than 2,700 feet tall.
A mile high mega-structure would almost double that in size.
In fact, the Burj Khalifa is expected to fall into second place by 2018, anyway, when a skyscraper in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is built.
Chicago architect Timothy Johnson tells Bloomberg the technology to build a mile-high structure already exists.
He says he had discussions about building a tower a mile and a half high four-years ago.
But Johnson says the project was put on hold because of the economic downturn.
