ODESSA -- Odessa could soon be teaming up with Fort Stockton to look for new water sources in West Texas.

The Odessa City Council will consider an interlocal agreement with the City of Fort Stockton to provide water to Odessa at Tuesday night's meeting.

Odessa City Council members will also consider an existing Odessa Development Corporation to fund a test water well in the Belding Farms area of the Capitan Reef.

If the resolutions are passed, Odessa will be one step closer to teaming with Fort Stockton on the project -- which could eventually lead to a new water source for both cities.

The plan would include an expansion of Fort Stockton's desalination plant and the construction of a 93-mile pipeline to bring some of the water to Odessa.

Both cities would still need to apply for a permit with the Middle Pecos Water Conservation District in order to drill.
