MIDLAND -- An account has been set up to help a Midland County bullfighter who was seriously injured at an East Texas rodeo.

Professional bullfighter Cody Hollums was protecting a cowboy who had been thrown from a bull at a Championship Bull Riding event at the George Henderson Exposition Center in Lufkin on October 6th -- when the bull stepped on him and kicked him in the head.

Hollums was listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler Tuesday.

Hollums' aunt tells Big 2 that Hollums has been working as a bullfighter on the C.B.R. circuit for 5 years.

Hollums' aunt says Hollums always put the bull rider's life ahead of his own while working rodeos, and he said a prayer each time he entered the arena.

The event Hollums was injured at was actually a benefit in memory of Lufkin Ranch and Rodeo General Manager David Wisener.

Wisener -- who often brought livestock across the country to compete in rodeos -- was killed in a 3 vehicle crash and explosion along Interstate 20 near the Midland International Airport on March 15th.

A benefit account has been set up for Hollums at Community National Bank.

If you'd like to donate to the account, the routing number is 116312873, and the account number is 10283444.
