MIDLAND -- Midland Memorial Hospital staff will be hosting its 11th annual Healthy U on Saturday, October 20 at the Horseshoe arena! This free health and wellness expo will feature dozens of exhibits and presenters-all focused on providing information and resources that can help everyone in the community lead healthier lives.
About 2,000 people come out every year to take advantage of free screenings, listen to physicians speak about health concerns, and see fitness demonstrations. The event will feature approximately 80 booths from midland memorial and other community health partners. Among the screenings will be blood sugar, balance testing, blood pressure, cholesterol, and foot screenings. Experts will also deliver presentations on a variety of health topics, along with the ever-popular healthy cooking demonstration. Plus, a grand prize giveaway will give members of the community yet another reason to stop by Healthy U.
This year, Healthy U is introducing a brand-new event: The first annual Dr. Joseph Suckarieh Memorial Heart Walk. Although a heart walk has kicked off the day's activities in the past, this is the debut of a three-mile walk that will raise funds
Directly for the hospital. All proceeds will go to the endowment fund created in memory of Dr. Suckarieh, a heart surgeon who worked at Midland Memorial from 1989 until his death in 2009.
Healthy U will be held October 20 from 9 am.-2 pm. at the Midland County Horseshoe Arena. The Suckarieh Memorial Heart Walk will start at 8:30 am., with registration from 7:30-8 am.
