ODESSA--- With the increased number of singles moving to the Basin for work, most are finding it hard to meet people at local bars and clubs.
Stephanie Castillo recently moved to the Basin for work and says that she has been actively going out on weekends and says that she has noticed a large amount of males and not many females.
"Where are all the girls in the Basin?" asks Castillo.
But Castillo is not the only one feeling the imbalance. Denziel Owusu also recently moved to the Basin for work and says that the lack of girls in the area is making him more inclined to leave every weekend.
"There isn't too much of a night scene around the Midland Odessa area" says Owusu.
The few bars that are in the area tend to get pretty busy on weekends.
Ogi's Restaurant and Lounge in Odessa owner, Boris Stoyanov, says that he has been watching singles in the Basin interact for the past 4 years from behind the bar.
"Definitely alcohol has a big effect" says Stoyanov.
Watching people come in large groups of numbers, Stoyanov says that he has noticed that it helps people with their confidence level as well.
Regardless of coming into bars in large numbers or with drinks, both Castillo and Owusu say they want a change for the night life in Odessa, so they have a better chance of finding a mate.
