ODESSA -- The more than 8,000 veterans living in the Permian Basin will be getting a new veterans clinic.

Veterans were honored at the groundbreaking ceremony, and U.S. Congressman Mike Conaway (R-TX) served as the keynote speaker.

"Each generation looks to see how the previous generation that served our country are taken care of," Conaway told Big 2. "And being able to demonstrate how we take of current veterans will help future veterans see that and have them be more willing to take up the our uniforms and arms to defend this country."

The Veterans Affairs Permian Basin Community Based Outpatient Clinic will be constructed next to the M.C.H. Center for Health and Wellness off of TX Hwy. 191 in Odessa.

The clinic will house four full-time physicians and will provide a range of treatments, from physical therapy services the eye and ear care.

Construction on the clinic is set be complete in December 2014.
