MIDLAND COUNTY -- A Midland County man is accused of trying to strangle his girlfriend to death.

Brian Paul Siverson was arrested on November 12th.

Midland County Sheriff's deputies say that Siverson, 49, burst into a home in the 4300 block of South County Road 1298 and immediately started choking his girlfriend.

Siverson also reportedly threatened to kill the woman during the attack.

The attack reportedly lasted about 3 minutes, and deputies say that the victim blacked out from lack of oxygen at one point during the attack.

The victim was eventually able to escape and drive to a nearby truck stop.

The victim then reportedly called the Midland County Sheriff's Office and explained what had happened.

Now, Siverson is charged with assault on a family member leading to impaired breathing and failure to display insurance.

As of Wednesday evening, Siverson was being held in the Midland County Detention Center on $20,000 bond.
