Midland I.S.D. Trying To Set Record For Most Stacked Cups

MIDLAND -- November 15th is Guinness Book of World Records Day, and some Midland I.S.D. students were doing their part to try and make a record of their own.

Students at the Washington Math and Science Institute teamed up with other students in 28 countries to attempt to stack a record number of cups at the same time.

"Every kid can do this," Washington Math and Science Institute Physical Education teacher Kristi Shirley told Big 2. "That's what's so fun about cup stacking. It doesn't matter if you're the most athletic. It doesn't matter if you're the smartest kid. Everybody can do cup stacking. Everybody can be successful. So I think it gives a sense of being good at something."

There were more than 412,000 stackers across the globe in 2011.

Students and teachers were attempting to shatter the record on Thursday.
