MIDLAND -- Texas Senator Kel Seliger has the following statement regarding a fatal crash where a train plowed into a trailer carrying wounded veterans and their families to the Show of Support Banquet in Midland Thursday afternoon.

Four wounded military veterans were killed in the crash, while 17 other people were injured.

"I had the privilege to speak to the wounded warriors at today's Show of Support luncheon as they were being honored by the community. I am enormously saddened by the news of this unspeakable tragedy. The hearts of everyone in the Permian Basin, and across the country, go out to these individuals who have served their country so well. The state of Texas is prepared to provide whatever help and support Midland County needs. We should pray for these individuals and their families."
