However, the volunteers that were at the Show our Support Luncheon at the Commemorative Air Force with the veterans earlier in the day were especially hurt by the development.
At the lunch, the wounded veterans heard from a veteran who had previously been on the Hunt for Heroes.
Veterans also received keys to the Tall City.
Volunteers who met the veterans at the luncheon (before the crash) say their spirits and excitement to be here was infectious.
The same volunteers sincerely hope that this tragedy doesn't stop future Show of Support Hunt for Heroes activities in years to come.
"We don't need this [tragic incident] to darken that," Danny Pelt of Stellar Oil Field Rentals told Big 2. "Moving on we need to continue on with it. You had to be there to see their faces and attitudes about being there. We shouldn't let this stop moving forward. Continue on with it."
Show of Support's Hunt for Heroes started in 2004 and has been growing ever since.
Pelt says that Show of Support needs support from the community now, as they reel from the horrible tragedy.
