MIDLAND -- While the aftermath of Thursday's Midland train tragedy has been hard on West Texans emotionally, many who saw the accident happened remain especially shaken.

Marilyn Nesesta was riding two cars behind the flatbed truck that was hit by the train on Thursday.

Nesesta said that at first, it appeared everything was going fine.

However, she added that the second flatbed was on the tracks when the railroad crossing gates began to move.

"The arms of the train came down, and it looked like it hit one of the soldiers, maybe the wife and it sprang back up," Nesesta told Big 2. "And the lights were going and it was seconds later when the train hit the back of the truck."

Nesesta says that shortly before the train hit the trailer, people near the gates began jumping off the float.

Nesesta added that people towards the front of the truck might not have even realized the train was coming.

Nesesta also said she heard the horn, but that wasn't really any time for people to react.
