Texas D.P.S. Troopers Warning Drivers To Be Safe During Thanksgiving Holiday

By: Karl Rundgren
Updated: November 20, 2012
MIDLAND -- Many people are already taking to the air and the road to get together with family for Thanksgiving.

However, the Texas Department of Public Safety is asking people to be careful as they travel for Thanksgiving -- particularly when it comes to things that are easy to avoid.

Everyone should be sure to buckle up, not drink and drive, not text and drive, and not drive while tired.

D.P.S. will also have extra patrols on the roads.

D.P.S. troopers gave out close to 7,500 speeding tickets during the 2011 Thanksgiving holiday weekend, and about 900 seat belt violations.
