PITTSBURGH -- Former Texas Tech running back and Midland High Bulldog, Baron Batch, has been cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Batch and linebacker Marshall McFadden were waived so an injury prone Pittsburgh team could make room to sign wide receiver Plaxico Burress and quarterback Brian Hoyer.

Batch was the seventh round draft pick for the Steelers in 2011. He sat our his entire rookie season with a knee injury. This year, Batch was active in 10 games, rushing for 49 yards and one touchdown on 49 carries.
