Thanksgiving Marks One-Week Anniversary Of Midland Train Tragedy

MIDLAND -- While Thursday is Thanksgiving, it also is the one-week anniversary of the November 15th Midland train tragedy.
People all over the country are still in shock over the accident, which killed 4 military veterans and injured 17 other people.
A Union Pacific train crashed into a parade float that was carrying 12 veterans, their 12 spouses and 2 escorts to a banquet at the Midland County Horseshoe Arena -- just as the float was crossing the tracks near the intersection of West Front Street and South Garfield Street.
Two lawyers hired by victims of the tragedy are now blaming Union Pacific for the accident.
Lawyers Kevin Glasheen and Bob Pottroff are stating that Union Pacific's warning signals are given with inadequate time to react.
The City of Midland also said that there was no permit issued for the parade.
However, City of Midland officials will not be making any further statements until the National Transportation Safety Board is done with their investigation into the crash.
