MIDLAND -- The United Blood Services in Midland held a special community-wide blood drive on Black Friday.

The fundraiser was held in order to show support for Lee Wise and Tommy Cook who are two local firefighters battling cancer.

For each blood donation made, the United Blood Services made a donation of $25 for the Professional Fire Fighter's Association of Midland, helping the firefighters and others in need.

The blood supple in the Permian Basin and surrounding counties goes down during the holiday season since many are busy with festivities, so the United Blood Services encourages people to come out and give blood when they can in order to have a sufficient supply.

For more information call United Blood Services at (432) 561-5539.
