COAHOMA - Coahoma ISD Superintendent Amy Jacobs says Robert Ethridge Junior High School Principal Brett Ramsey has resigned from the school district.

This comes after Ramsey was arrested Friday November 23, 2012 and charged with assault of a family or household member and impeding breathing or circulation; and interfering with an emergency phone call according to officials at the Howard county Jail.

Ramsey's last day at Coahoma ISD was Tuesday November 20, 2012.  Jacobs says Ramsey is on administrative leave.

Superintendent Jacobs says Ramsey started working for Coahoma ISD in July of 2012.  Prior to Coahoma ISD, Ramsey was a principal at Eastland ISD.  Jacobs says the district will be posting his position for a new Junior High Principal.

"He will have no access to the district or the campuses" says Jacobs.

Superintendent Jacobs says that the school district is looking to put this incident behind them and move forward with the rest of the school year.

"Our goal through this process and any other when we have a transition is for the students to go on with their normal day to day, and our teachers to teach, and our administrators to lead and our students to learn so that's what we're going for".
