TAHOKA -- A Midland man is killed in a crash that happened about 20 miles south of Lubbock.

The fatal crash happened along U.S. 87 about 200 feet south of Tahoka around 6 PM on November 29th.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers told www.everythinglubbock.com that Daniel Pennell of Midland was heading north on U.S. 87 when his pickup truck crossed the highway's center median and rolled down an embankment into the southbound lanes.

An oncoming 18-wheeler smashed into the driver's side of the pickup truck.

Pennell, 55, was pronounced dead by a justice of the peace 10 minutes after the crash took place.

The driver of the big rig -- Joseph Martinez of San Antonio -- wasn't hurt in the crash.

D.P.S. troopers continued to investigate the crash on Friday.
